Washington’s Best ‘Dive Bar’ Spot Is All About Chili; Even Guy Fieri Agrees

See the cash-only chili parlor dive bar in Ballard (Seattle) that is so good, even Food Network TV's Guy Fieri paid them a visit. As many times as I have been to Seattle, I have never been to Mike's Chili Parlor in Ballard, probably because I've never heard of it.

Inside the Legendary Chili Dive Bar in Ballard

Come for the tasty food by the Ballard Docks, stay for the "terrible karaoke", as one Redditor put it. This dive bar has been around since 1922, when the original owner had a food cart. The chili was so great, they expanded to a bar.

Fans rave about the chili bowls "to-go", chili dogs, and the dive bar ambiance. It's cash-only, too, but there's an ATM inside if you need some money.

Why Guy Fieri Chose This Spot

Mike's Chili Parlor was featured on an episode of Food Network TV's Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives back in 2007. Guy Fieri tried to find out the secret recipe of Mike's 104-year-old chili. He also scarfed down bites of their chili cheeseburger and some chili fries.

Food Paradise, another Food Network TV show, also featured the eatery on their Bodacious Bowls episode.

Another great restaurant in Seattle serving up Guy Fieri-approved chili is Slim's Last Chance (5606 1st Ave S), where he devoured a bowl of their smoked chili verde that features green chilies from New Mexico, tomatillos, and simmered pork.
