Local Ag Company Helps Preserve COVID-19 Vaccine

A local agricultural company is helping preserve the COVID-19 vaccine by loaning three of their ultra-cold freezers to Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic. Officials with AgroFresh Solutions, Inc have an R&D lab in Yakima with special ultra-cold freezers they are loaning out to clinics in Yakima, Toppenish and Grandview. A news release from the clinic says the Pfizer vaccine must be stored in special ultra-cold freezers, which has resulted in shortages of the specialized equipment.
Clinic officials say the freezers will take pressure off the clinics nd nearby hospitals that have been supporting the state response.
Clinic officials say they didn't expect to see an ultra-cold freezer until April.
