Robbed Emotions

Having something you’ve worked hard for ripped away from you by a thief is a feeling I never want anyone to experience. The very thought of it flips my stomach and fills me with a wide variety of emotions.

Anger, fear, realization. It doesn’t matter what it is that is taken; it hurts, and yes somethings hurt worse than others, and sadly it’s a crappy part of life that we seem to have to deal with.

When My House Was Broken Into

If you couldn’t tell by my emotions above, I had my Yakima home burglarized about 10 years ago. It was a Friday evening in the Fall, and while my wife and I were at work, someone kicked in my front door.

We were very fortunate; the stuff that was stolen was easily replaceable, and they didn’t hurt our little dog, Rusty. But the disgust and rage I felt after the incident still get my blood pressure up, even after all these years.

The main thing they stole from my house was a laptop, some DJ equipment, some movies, and a sword. It could have been a lot worse. That thought doesn’t help the feeling of having your home, your safe haven, violated like that. But still, the items that were stolen (in my case) were minor, compared to some of the items on this list.
