Most people know that consuming alcohol can cause liver disease and, of course, stupidity, but a new study from the University of Texas shows that abstaining from drinking alcohol actually decreases your life expectancy!
Yup.  You read that correctly.  Drinkers live longer.

The study analyzed people who were classified as those who drank heavily, moderately or not at all. People who were once heavy drinkers but had become sober were not included.  Unbelievably, the mortality rate proved the highest for the non-drinking subjects.

The death rate of heavy drinkers was somewhat lower than abstainers and the mortality rate of moderate drinkers was waaayyyy less.

The moral of the story?  Having a few drinks helps you live longer and, I submit, happier!

Cheers!
