The reality of the situation, most of the time if you were to smile at 10 people. Most would respond in a positive way. Continue to connect. Don't be afraid to ask the question, "Are you thinking of suicide" You asking this isn't going to put the idea in their head, it's already there. It is opening up the conversation to let them know they are not alone and there are people who care and there are some great resources to get them through this darkness.
