I was lucky enough to cross another item off my bucket list recently, as I had the opportunity to speak to the man who had a key role in molding my comedy love and style.
I've been fortunate in recent years to interview Twisted Sister frontman and House of Hair (played on KATS Sunday mornings starting at 7) Radio show host Dee Snider and another one of my idols, "Weird Al" Yankovic, and this past Friday, that good fortune struck again when I got to interview Cheech Marin!
Here is the interview, and below this video, I've included video clips from some of the topics we discussed during our 10-minute-long chit-chat.
This interview is so meaningful to me.
Growing up listening to Cheech & Chong comedy skits on my dad's vinyl collection definitely had an impact on my love for comedy as well as my approach to it, which I took during my time on the stage with Manic Thunder Improv Troupe and as a solo stand-up.
In the above interview, Cheech & I talk about his first TV acting gig, the Golden Girls spinoff called "The Golden Palace". If you've never seen it, do yourself a favor and do so. It's a shame the show only got one season.
(NOTE: The show had a different version of the theme song, but this video was clearer, plus this version of the song is better).
And if you're a fan of video games and military combat shooters, the next time you're in the war zone, don't forget to bring Call of Duty's dynamic duo, Cheech & Chong!
With all the amazing work that Cheech Marin has done in his life, he is truly a living legend! If you're able to attend one of his talks, do it! If you're not, pick up one of his many films or comedy albums!
They're all great! His film Up In Smoke, not only holds a special place in hearts all across the country, but the Movie Poster is one of the best ever created! Check it out below!
