The Reason Count Chocula Doesn’t Taste the Same as it Did in the ’80s
As we creep up on Halloween, so comes the Halloween-themed treats. A popular mainstay is the breakfast cereal Count Chocula. Sure, it's still on store shelves this time every year, but I've noticed as the years go by, it's not the same as it was when I was growing up. I've heard our taste buds deteriorate the older we get, but I didn't think it was just that. I knew there was more to it. Turns out, I was right.
The quick answer is they changed the formula.
Back in my day the cereal was made with an oat flour. Now it's made with corn flour. Probably because it's cheaper.
I did a quick video showing off the differences if you care to watch it but you're not wrong, most of your favorite cereal has changed from when we were younger.
