Todd’s Take: Is Herd Immunity Better Than Quarantining?

Yesterday, I posted a quote on my personal Facebook page from an article I read on the website of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons regarding the spread of the coronavirus that gave me pause. The quote, from Medical Doctor Martin Dubravec, an Allergist/Clinical
Immunologist at Allergy and Asthma Specialists of Cadillac, MI read:

"With herd immunity, significant amounts of the population will have exposure to the virus and become immune to it.
They are no longer able to spread the virus as their immune systems kill the virus before it has a chance to grow and multiply.
That individual then becomes not a source of viral spread but a source of killing the virus.
The virus has nowhere to go and it disappears."

This is the exact opposite of what we are being ordered and encouraged to do in what feels like a bombardment of messages from everyone from the CDC to state governors - even fast food restaurants in their commercials.
