Work sucks and I don't just mean one's job or career. Other than making money to do the things that I really LIKE to do, work is a necessary evil. But, sometimes, it can be rewarding in ways that aren't monetary.

Obviously, there is a sense of satisfaction upon completion of a task, I'll give you that. Now that I have a soon-to-be 12 year-old son (who will be entering the work force in just a few more years) I'm trying to instill a good ethic in him by example.

Recently, my stepson moved out and opened up a spare room. I'd always envisioned having a den/office/guest room/Man Cave but was NOT looking forward to remodeling it. Work. Ugh.

To help make it more palatable and to get my son involved, I told him that we were going to make it HIS new bedroom. Together, we went to the paint store and I let him pick out the color. Then the carpet store for the same thing.

Suddenly, we had worked together for an entire Saturday - laughing, painting, scraping, taping and ultimately transforming his bedroom. And it didn't seem like work. At All.
