Todd’s Take: Things That Suddenly Got Important When I Turned 50
Having recently turned 50 years old, the milestone birthday has not fallen lightly on me. Even though it has been just over a month, there are a couple of things that, almost overnight, vaulted to the top of my "Big Book of Things That Are Important" list.
First off, the photo above is a depiction of what I am, theoretically, going to look like when I get older. Below is a picture of me and my dad circa 2012. Kind of eerie, eh?
Now, to the brass tacks...
1.) Estate planning - will vs. revocable trust: My wife and I have been talking about doing this for years. We finally went to an attorney and found out that we do NOT need a trust set up but we are getting a Will drawn.
2.) The Seattle Mariners winning the World Series: This has ALWAYS been important to me it is just accelerated now as my dad is getting older. I'd love to see that day and share it with him.
3.) Getting a "Round Tuit": I have finally started doing some projects (organizing, cataloguing) that I have said I was going to for the last 25 years.
4.) If it's on my Bucket List, get it off ASAP: I have always been pretty good about flying by the seat of my pants but I still want to take a cruise to the Mediterranean.
5.) Taking steps to take care of my body: At a recent visit to my doctor, he told me that I was pre-diabetic and needed to start exercising and lose some weight. For a guy that has been used to living a sedentary life and eating whatever whenever, this might be tougher than it sounds,
