Don't call it a comeback. The Moxee Hop Festival has been around since 1948 and, like many of our other favorite annual events that got canceled during the pandemic, it is back on again to help celebrate the city of Moxee's 100th anniversary.

It will be nice to celebrate my hometown's centennial by getting back together with family, friends and neighbors once again at this event that has become a staple in the Yakima Valley. If you have never been, it's time you made the trek out to Moxee City Park (off of Highway 24 and Rivard Rd.) on either Friday (August 6) or Saturday -- or both! Here are some things you should know if you attend:

What hours will the Moxee Hop Festival be open?

Friday it all kicks off at 3:00 p.m. until midnight and Saturday from noon until midnight.

How much does it cost to enter the Moxee Hop Fest?

It is absolutely free and is open to all ages. It is also pet-friendly, too! That said, there is a cover charge to enter the beer garden when it opens later in the afternoon. This in order to help cover the cost of the bands that will be performing and also to help fund the non-profit East Valley Community Enhancement Association that gives money in the form of scholarships and other assistance to the East Valley communities of Moxee and Terrace Heights.

Activities scheduled include local bands and musicians performing throughout both days,  a parade Saturday morning, fireworks at dusk each night, a 5k fun run, food and craft vendors, kids games, bingo, displays and the crowning of Hop Fest royalty. New to the event this year will be a cornhole competition with divisions based on skill level.

Having lived in Moxee since 2005, I know how dearly it was missed in 2020. I'm so glad it is back and can't wait to see you there!
