Free Comic Book Day Returns to Yakima Valley

Those immortal words ring just as true today as they did when the iconic Stan Lee said them (or a variation of them) so many years ago. Coming up on Saturday, May 2nd, you can get perhaps your first, or your 875th comic book on Free Comic Book Day! We have the details and a sneak peek at what will be offered below.

Free Comic Book Day (or as some are calling it, Comics Giveaway Day) happens every year on the first Saturday in May (not to be confused with National Comic Book Day, which is in September), and we are so blessed in the Yakima Valley to have several places to purchase comics.

Places To Purchase Comics In The Yakima Valley

Three big stores in the valley that have a major drive when it comes to comics are:

• Ron’s Coin & Collectibles (6 N. 3rd Street in Yakima)
• Central City Comics (113 E 4th Ave. in Ellensburg)
• Yakomix (1404 Fruitvale Blvd in Yakima)

And several other collector and hobby shops that sell some comics:

• Ok Collectibles & Hobbies (3A S. Toppenish Ave in Toppenish)
• Somewhere In Time/That 70s Shoppe (3916 ½ Main Street in Union Gap (moving to Yakima Ave. soon)).
• Geetaku Market (2301 W Nob Hill Blvd)

While participation in Official Free Comic Book Day may vary between each of these stores, many stores do celebrate with special deals.

How Free Comic Book Day Works

At participating stores, they will have a selection of free comic books set a side, and possibly other promotional materials or comic books from past years. There may be a limit on how many books you can have, details vary per store.
