Yakima Dogs Can Make a Splash at Paws in the Pool

As Summer is officially coming close to an end, the temps are still hot, and the pool is still refreshing, so grab your best buddy and make a splash… especially if that splash will make your buddy’s tail wag like crazy! Paws in The Pool is coming up!

Human & Canine Swimmers Unite In Yakima

The noses aren’t the only thing that’s going to be wet this Sunday, August 23rd, when the City of Yakima’s Franklin Pool (2101 Tieton Drive) gets a whole lot happier!

From 2 to 4 pm, you and your furry friend (all breeds, shapes, and sizes are welcome) are invited to take a splash and have some fun to fight off the summer heat with Yakima Parks and Recreation’s annual Paws In The Pool!

Key Notes To Be Aware Of With Paws In The Pool

Of course, a fun activity like this sticks around and is enjoyed when everyone is following the rules and staying safe (no matter how many legs you have).

• Make sure dogs are current on all their shots and vaccinations.
• Clean up after your dog.
• If your dog is aggressive, leave them at home; they won’t have fun and neither will anyone else.
• Dogs must be on a leash until they are inside the pool area.

How Much Does It Cost To Enjoy Paws In The Pool?

The event is free, but donations are greatly appreciated and will go help the fine folks at the Yakima Humane Society.

Not All Dogs Like Water

If this is your first time experiencing Paws In The Pool, take time with your pooch; some dogs, believe it or not, are not big fans of water.

My little guy, Rusty (pictured below), would only get on the top step of our swimming pool. We realized he did NOT like the water touching his belly. So be it; he had a lot of fun walking back and forth on that top step!
