Washington state, and closer to home, the Yakima Valley has had a rough summer with all of the wild fires that have spread across the land we call home.

For many, the fires took everything, and the sheer devastation, I just can't imagine. Times like these, it's heartwarming to see the community rally together to lend a hand and help those affected the most by the fires, and the Salvation Army Yakima Corps has another way for you to donate.

Earlier this week, the Salvation Army Yakima posted on its social media the need for socks and other items to help those affected by the recent fires.

"Families in the Lower Valley who lost everything in the fires are in great need of socks – all sizes are needed! Every donation, big or small, can make a difference for a family who has lost so much.”

How You Can Help Out By Donating

If you’re able to donate, please do by dropping off NEW socks at the Salvation Army’s 509 North 4th Street location, you can enter through the North Glass doors into the lobby and someone will be there to help you.

The donation drop off hours are Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm, and on Sunday from 9 am to 11:30 am, closed on Saturday.
