The day we honor The Dark Knight is finally upon us again!

Saturday, September 21st, is the official Batman Day, and there are many ways to celebrate it!

EXCEPT, don't put on a costume running around and punching clowns. The fair is in town, and that is technically ASSAULT.

First off, you can visit your local comic shop. We are blessed to have a few options in the Yakima Valley, like Ron's Coin & Collectables (Yakima) and Central City Comics (Ellensburg).

These stores usually have free books (while supplies last) released by DC to celebrate the special day, and of course, loads of comics starring our favorite crime-fighting vigilante!

Here is a peak of the books made especially for Batman Day 2024 (some free, some at a cost).

What Is Batman Day & Why Do The Fans Celebrate It?

Simply, it's a day that we enjoy Batman! The first Batman Day was celebrated at the San Diego Comic-Con on July 23rd, 2014.

The floating holiday eventually moved to September, which also coincides with Adam West Day in Walla Walla, Washington. Adam West was TV's Batman in 1966 and was many people's introduction to the cape and cowl.

But why do we celebrate Batman and not Superman or Spider-Man? Well, the car... we love the car! (Side note: Superman & Spider-Man do have special days, but they don't have cars worth talking about).

It is a great time to be a Batman fan:

*A new VR game 'Batman: Arkham Shadows' is in the works.

*The Batman spinoff The Penguin just premiered on HBO Max!

*Joker: Folie à Deux will be in theaters next month.

*Matt Reeves & Robert Pattinson's The Batman 2 is in the works.

*A brand new reimagining of the character called Absolute Batman hitting comic stores next month.

*Endless stories about the character are at our fingertips, along with cartoons, movies, video games, and comics!
