I've been on a beer battered kick this whole week. From California rolls to bacon, one thing I thought I'd try for no other reason because it was handy and I still had beer batter left to experiment with was beer battering Spam.

Truth Time: I didn't actually try this. I did beer batter it, but even I was too afraid to actually try it so what did I do? I pawned it off on my 8-year-old daughter who will eat anything. She said it wasn't bad, but prefers it the original way. Without even trying it, I would probably agree.

But, who knows, maybe next time I'll try beer battering spam musubi, which was why I had Spam in my cupboard in the first place. If you love Spam, maybe you'll consider beer battering some next time.

Keep your cardiologist on speed dial, just in case.

Here's my beer batter recipe in case you want to experiment on your own.

Beer Batter:
1 Cup of Flour
1/2 Tablespoon of Baking Powder
pinch of salt
Half a bottle of beer
Old Bay Seasoning (optional)

Make your beer batter first. Combine dry ingredients, add the beer, mixed it up so it’s smooth, refrigerate for about 15 minutes to an hour. It’s ready to use then.
