The Seattle Mariners took their first glimpse into a hopefully brighter future on Thursday (May 13) night when they opened a four-game series at T-Mobile Park in Seattle against the Cleveland Indians with the Major League debuts of top prospects Jarred Kelenic and Logan Gilbert.

The wait for the complete return of Our National Pastime has never felt longer but, mercifully for us "seamheads", today is the day that the Great American Game finally begins again! Baseball is back and I couldn't be happier.

It's almost hard to believe that it has be 33 years (!) since we were first introduced to the character Prince Akeem as played by comic legend Eddie Murphy in "Coming to America". When I heard that there was a sequel being made, I was excited but also had some trepidation as sequels almost never live anywhere close to the originals.

After decades of collecting sports and music memorabilia, only to have it sit in boxes collecting dust, I FINALLY am making my dream of displaying all of my goods in my very own "Man Cave" that I have always dreamed of having!

It was 41 years ago today (Feb. 22, 1980) that a group of college kids took down the mighty Soviet Union at the height of the Cold War to deliver what is still believed by many to be the greatest moment in American sporting history and one of, if not the, greatest upset in the history of sport altogether. I distinctly remember it because I was lying in a hospital bed as a 9-year-old suffering from kidney failure.
