Earlier tonight (April 26) on KIMA-TV's Action News, Sports Director Alan Sillence pulled back the curtain to his own office to reveal his collection of memorabilia that he has held on to during his tenured career in television covering sports in the Yakima Valley and Central Washington. At the end of his sportscast, he solicited viewers to send in photographs of their most sacred of places.

It's almost hard to believe that it has be 33 years (!) since we were first introduced to the character Prince Akeem as played by comic legend Eddie Murphy in "Coming to America". It was 41 years ago today (Feb. 22, 1980) that a group of college kids took down the mighty Soviet Union at the height of the Cold War to deliver what is still believed by many to be the greatest moment in American sporting history and one of, if not the, greatest upset in the history of sport altogether. I distinctly remember it because I was lying in a hospital bed as a 9-year-old suffering from kidney failure.
