Saturday afternoon I, along with Aaron Bennett of "The Big Show" and my nine year-old son Drew, attended a fundraising golf tournament at River Ridge golf course in Selah.

The tourney was put on by members of the Yakima Police Department, Selah Police Department and Wapato Police Department, respectively, as part of their "Chief For a Day" program.

"Chief for a Day" helps enrich the lives of children who have been diagnosed with chronic or life-threatening medical conditions. Each police dept. adopts a child as "Chief for a Day" and raises money for them. It is their mission to help these children, and their families, to forget about their illness, if only for one day.

The KATS team was fleshed out by listeners Tom Halterman and Christopher Duchene.  Christopher was the lucky winner of a gift basket as part of a "Closest to the Pin" contest on one of the holes, landing his tee shot a mere 3'10.5" from the cup!

All in all, it was a spectacular day for golfing or, as I have heard it put, "A good walk spoiled."
Many thanks to Nichole Sandino and Dean Laurvick of Y.P.D. and River Ridge for making us feel welcome!
