A New Doritos For A New Year in Yakima!
I've written quite a few of these "Timmy Tries" articles throughout 2024.
And with 2025 right around the corner (or here if you're reading this in the New Year), I was so happy to find and review ONE MORE thing.
When my wife spotted these, with the gold reflective bag, it was a sign that we'd be eating these as we waited for midnight on December 31st.
Not to mention, Doritos is one of my favorite types of Chips (Spicy Nacho FTW), so trying and reviewing another flavor is a no-brainer.
Taste Test Golden Sriracha Tangy Sweet Doritos Legal Disclaimer
Just like all my other Timmy Tries articles, I'm not being paid to review this brand of chips, so this is not an advertisement.
I bought this bag of chips with my own money, and the opinions in this article for (or against) this snack food are mine (and my review helpers).
Taste Test of Golden Sriracha Tangy Sweet Doritos
Before I talk about the taste, let's talk about the bag.
I (like many) am distracted by shiny things, and the golden foil bag looked great and definitely caught my eye at the store. Well done, Doritos packaging designers.
The taste is one of those weird chips that you can't eat just one.
It had a sweet and zesty taste like the Sweet Chili Doritos (my wife's favorite), but the corn chip tasted like it was burned corn.
At first, I didn't like it, but because of a lack of willpower, I ate another and another, and the spicy sweetness grew on me. To the point, I'm not sure if the bag will make it to New Year's.
2nd Opinion Taste Test of Golden Sriracha Tangy Sweet Doritos
My wife was the one to discover these chips, so of course, she was going to help me eat and review these chips.
She got the Sriracha smell right as the bag was open and enjoyed them from the first chip (unlike me).
She didn't get a burnt corn taste but did get the corn as more of an aftertaste.
"Not as good as the Sweet Chili, but not bad!" – Stephanie (my wife).
3rd Opinion Taste Test of Golden Sriracha Tangy Sweet Doritos
My buddy Eugene was hanging out on his lunch break, and took a snack break.
Much like the name "Tangy Sweet," he described Sriracha as a type of mango or pineapple Sriracha and even compared it to a type of dip he's had in the past from Costco.
I'm not sure if he liked it or not, when I offered him more, he declined, but that could have just been because he had just finished lunch.
Golden Sriracha Tangy Sweet Doritos Final Thoughts & You?
My household enjoyed these chips. Will they still be here to eat on New Years, or will we have polished off the bag by then?
With only 2 days left (as of this writing), we still have half the bag on our counter.
But, I will say, if we do eat them all, I don't think I'll be running back out to the store to buy more in time for the big countdown, but next time I'm already out, I can see myself grabbing another bag.
Have you tried them? If so, what are your thoughts? Tap the App and let me know.
