Look Inside! El Porton Restaurant Reopens in Union Gap, Washington
The day I have been waiting for for over 2 years has finally come. The day that El Porton in Union Gap re-opens to the public. When my friend Bobby sent me a message about it, my wife was in the area, so I told her to double check, and sure enough, for the first time since September of 2022, the Family Mexican Restaurant has finally re-opened.
There has been no shortage of great restaurants in Union Gap (Jean’s Cottage Inn, Outback, Old Town Station, Old Town Pump, Xochimilco Tequila Bar, Miners, to name a few), but you know how you get when you’re craving that certain something, that’s what I was missing on that side of the Yakima Valley.
El Porton’s West Valley location has been going strong ever since the fire that closed the Union Gap restaurant, but it can be a little bit of a drive, depending on where you are.
Last month, I wrote about the anticipation for the restaurant’s re-opening and what one of the servers told me, and she was right on the mark, leading me to believe that it would be before the start of June.
The Look Of The Re-Opened El Porton in Union Gap, Washington
The inside is, simply put, beautiful. Modern design and style. The layout is basically the same as before, with an open dining area, and maybe it was because the tables seemed a little smaller, but it felt like the area was bigger but had less seating. That could have been my memory; after all, it’s been a while since I’ve enjoyed this particular restaurant.
