Family Of Three Lives In 320-Square-Foot Home [VIDEO]
Bigger isn't necessarily better.
A woman identified as Debra lives in a 320-square-foot home with her husband, Gary, and their 13-year-old son.
Debra says she and Gary got fed up trying to pay the mortgage on their 2,000-square-foot home, so they decided to fight back against the unstable housing market by contacting an Arkansas company that builds custom homes.
It took six weeks and cost $15,000 before the family eventually moved into what amounts to little more than a dollhouse. They are pleased as the punch that can barely fit in their fridge with the results, though. And they don't have to worry about that nasty little thing called a mortgage because the house is all paid off.
The home features all the amenities you'd see in a more traditional residence, including a shower, a stove, a washer - and a dryer, too! - even if everything fits in a much more contained space. The family even has a couch that folds out into a guest bed, should friends or family want to take the sardine feeling to a whole new level or try to be cured of their claustrophobia.
As Debra, who works next store with Gary in a studio making baby gifts, said, "It's not what you don't have. It's what you do have. That's what you focus on."
Perhaps the most amazing part of the house is their son is home-schooled. Of course, if he misbehaves can they really make him sit in the corner, since it's by the master bath-slash-front porch-slash-living room?
