WHY "FISH FRIDAYS" AND WHY IS IT ONLY HELD IN YAKIMA DURING MARCH and APRIL EVERY YEAR?

Lent for 2022 is March 2nd through April 14th. Fish Fridays have become a huge thing because as you may know, Catholics that observe the Lent holiday tradition are fasting during the days, and on Fridays, they feast on Fish. As a fried fish lover myself, that's one Catholic holiday tradition I got down with asaptually when I moved to Yakima, and I'm not even Catholic! Fish Fridays is a fundraiser for the school, so I'm technically just eating all these fishes for the kids!

REMEMBERING THE FUN, NOSTALGIC TIMES OF ST. JOE'S FISH FRIDAYS PAST

Before the COVID pandemic, the Fish Fridays were a huge deal in regard to the crowd. It would feel like hundreds of people filling up the hallways of St. Joe's, as the private school is affectionately called. There would be beer flowing, fried fish in the deep fryer, and French-fried potatoes, coleslaw, and mac and cheese available for purchase. Kids would line the halls outside of the cafeteria and chit-chat or just go outside to hang out or play on the basketball court. OMG, I miss those days!

WHY IS THE FISH FRIDAY EVENT DRIVE-THRU ONLY?

This year because of COVID-prevention protocols, the event will simply be a drive-thru-only event. For six (6) Fridays, patrons can pull up and order what they like, then drive the heck away. No muss, no fuss for you!
