There's a lot to be said for having fun traditions. Especially those traditions that can be enjoyed by families and communities year in and year out. Keeping a tradition can foster a sense of belonging. It gives us something to look forward to sharing together.

One such Yakima Valley tradition is the Central Washington State Fair. There are very few things that take us all the way back into two previous centuries as does the fair. The first one was held in 1892, just three years after Washington became a state!

This past year has been a very big challenge, in so many ways, dealing with the pandemic and the havoc wrought by shutdowns and social distancing and all that changed our daily lives. The 2020 Central Washington State Fair was canceled, and boy did we all miss it. One of the many sacrifices we all had to make to get through this COVID crisis - was missing out on all of the sights and sounds of the tradition that September brings.

Well, we said goodbye to 2020 and we're seeing some amazing things happening so far in 2021. Vaccinations, businesses opening up once again, and it won't be long - until we're back to 'normal'. This, of course, includes the fact that The Central Washington State Fair for 2021 is ON!

There couldn't possibly be a time when we as a community were looking forward to it more than we are now. This year's shindig promises to be bigger and better than ever!
