It is almost that time of year again to celebrate Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) which honors relatives who have passed away. This year Dia de los Muertos is celebrated in the United States on October 31st thru November 2nd.

Local Yakima art teacher, Christin at Art Expressions, is hosting free art classes beginning October 7th. This art class will teach children to explore using mixed mediums (different art materials) and create art pieces that showcase and celebrate this vibrant and colorful Mexican holiday.

The classes are free and while there is a suggested donation ($35 for supplies; $75 for the class), however, no child will be turned away based on ability to pay. Parents can drop off their child right after school beginning at 3 p.m. and pick them up at 5:30 p.m. Kids can use the afterschool free time to socialize with each other or work on their school homework before the art class begins at 4 p.m. They will also be provided a few afterschool snacks and a beverage.
