What is it about Yakima?  From the highway ditches that circle the city to alleyways, sidestreets and any place that garbage can collect and pile up - it does!

What Message Do We Send?

Why?  Where is our self-respect, where is our desire to preserve and take pride in our community, why do we seem to think someone else should clean up our messes?  It really ticks me off. Over time, the job becomes so big we need an army to clean it up...and fortunately, we have one.

Avengers Assemble!

Another community cleanup is planned for 8:00 am to 12:00 pm this Saturday, September 18. City officials say if you live in the area eats from 16th Avenue to 10th Avenue and south between Tieton Drive and Nob Hill Boulevard you can be a part of the free cleanup.

Refuse and Recycling Manager Loretta Zammarchi says, “Volunteers will be driving trucks through your neighborhood to assist in properly disposing of trash, brush, or other bulky items...this is a great opportunity for residents to band together."

Residents of the area can also bring items to the temporary disposal site located in the 1200 to 1500 blocks of West Arlington Street where large dumpsters will be available for the clean-up day trash.

Clean Up Rules

Guidelines include - no commercial waste, construction or demolition debris or concrete.  No hazardous waste will be accepted at the temporary disposal site and no
loads will be accepted after 12:00PM Saturday. The temporary disposal site on W. Arlington will be closed to traffic for the day of the cleanup.
The city is hoping for volunteers to help make it all happen To volunteer or to organize a neighborhood clean-up team call 576-6739 or visit the Keep Yakima Clean Facebook or Instagram pages.
