The Seattle Mariners had a couple of rarities today (April 28). First, they were able to rough up Zack Greinke. Second, their thus-reliable bullpen imploded in the 8th inning giving up 5 unanswered runs en route to 7-5 loss to the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park.
Trailing 2-0 early in the game, Catcher Luis Torrens got the Mariners on the board with a solo home run.
Torrens was not finished, however...

The following inning, reigning Roookie of the Year Kyle Lewis, who just recently began his 2021 campaign after starting the season on the Injured List, smoked a home run into the Crawford Boxes in left field to increase the Mariners lead to 5-2.
Houston rallied for four runs in the bottom of the 8th inning off of relievers Rafael Montero and Will Vest. Montero (2-1)The loss, the third in as many days to the Astros, dropped the M's a half game behind their not-so-gracious hosts into third place in the American League West division.
All-time, Houston increased their dominance over the Mariners by winning for the 99th time against just 59 losses for a .627 winning percentage.
Seattle and Houston wrap-up their four-game series Thursday (April 29) with some breakfast baseball. First pitch is scheduled for 11:10 a.m. Yusei Kikuchi toes the rubber for Seattle.
