National Debt Solution: Sell Montana to Canada for $1 Trillion?
We have too much debt and Montana is useless. Just tell them it has beavers or something.
The above is the actual initial reasoning to introduce a change.org petition (click the link to sign yourself) that has just under 5,500 signatures, with about a thousand of those putting pen to paper from Montana, who are A-OK with the United States selling Montana to Canada for $1 trillion to pay off the national debt.
Now the shade:
Fabulous, but a cool trill would cover a year. ONE year. (2019 projected debt = $985 billion) -- although it depends if we're speaking of Canadian or American dollars.
Montana has nuclear missiles -- silos transfer makes me nervous.
Yellowstone -- We'll declare a national emergency in order to keep it. Not Weak!
Canada has an extra trillion lying around?
Is it possible to throw in the Dakotas?
Does Montana keep the name or does it become Southern Alberta? Monterio? Sassier Saskatchewan? Baja Alberta has a nice ring to it.
Legal weed and universal health care are some attractive attributes, I'll give you that.
