Rodney Carrington Delivers Big Laughs At Legends in Toppenish

Friday Night, June 26th, the Yakima Valley got another epic show courtesy of Legends Casino Hotel Event Center, proving once again fun is how they roll!

We've had some amazing comedy in the past couple of years, especially at Legends. From Brad Williams, Gabriel Iglesias, Jay Leno, Joel McHale, Adam Ray (to name a few), and with this show, our comedy got a little more southern, and a lot more raunchy.

Opening up the show was a great, simplistically animated welcoming video with old school flash animation and computer dialogue giving you the rules for the show. Followed up by a hilarious disclaimer.

"If you're offended by the word [Left Blank for future show spoilers], don't worry, we'll say [even more potentially offensive word] instead, enjoy the show!"

Opening up and doing almost half an hour was a new (to me) comedian named Dean Stanfield, who joked about his time on the road with Rodney, doing Taxes, transplanting to an overly left-leaning Texas city, and an amazing bit about his experience with a male measure. I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye on him for future shows.

A short video intro brought Rodney Carrington onto the stage with him and his spectacularly beautiful voice singing a cappella the Disney's Aladdin hit, A Whole New World. Explaining how that was for his granddaughter. A very wholesome moment.

Then the comedy that fans of Rodney have come to expect and love was there in full force!

Joking and telling stories about the rules of Legends, his excitement walking/running the Yakima Greenway, being divorced, dating in his 50s, age and opportunistic sexual escapes, and personal choices, karma, and how our decisions for good or bad have led us to where we are in life... including listening to him tell dirty jokes!

He did give a very heartfelt talk (interwoven with his tasteful brand of humor) about how, thanks to phones, we are more connected but also more disconnected than ever before. Back in the day, his family and close friends were his Facebook. And we need that back in life.

A sentiment that the crowd agreed with and applauded.

He grabbed his guitar and informed us how he'd been working on music that can be played at weddings, and went into a newer (to me) song titled Let Me In, followed by Flick The Bean.

Then he started a medley of his hits, complete with crowd interaction, including "Show Them To Me," which one peace person in Legends attendance did! To great applause from the audience, and much appreciation from Rodney.

Another epic show in the bank, thanks to great talent and the hard-working crew at Legends Casino Hotel.
