Brad Williams Brings The Growth Spurt To Yakima Valley
The Yakima Valley has had its funny bone tickled quite a bit lately, and I'm so grateful for it! Recently, Bert Kreischer came and rocked the Yakima SunDome (read that CONCERT REVIEW HERE), and now we had the biggest little man in comedy grace the Legends Casino Hotel Event Center Stage! Brad Williams!
Brad brought his "Growth Spurt" tour to Toppenish, Washington on Friday, October 10th with an epic (roughly) 2 and half hour show, that I won't soon forget!

It opened up with Brad from backstage addressing the audience, laying down the ground rules, you know the basics, be courteous, no heckling, phones off, but he did it in a great comedic and audience interaction way I've ever seen at a show! A great way to set the mood for the show, and to introduce the opener/emcee Quincy Weekley!

Quincy was a new comic for me, but I'll be keeping an eye on him. Mixing jokes with his experience of apartment living with paper-thin walls, and how heavier folks could possibly join specific social movements and fit right in.
Featuring for the night was a man whom I have heard of, but had not experienced any of his comedy (but I'm planning to, with his multiple YouTube specials), J.B. Ball.

J.B. riffed with the audience, talked about his respect but also his confusion and impression of hunting, poked fun at his mixed-race child, and some of the social reactions he's received (in real life and imagination. Airplane anxiety and how he'd offer to help a very voluptuous lady sitting in the seat next to him on a recent flight.
Quincy came back out with a special announcement about the merch table and how all 3 comics would be doing a free meet & greet after the show, and introduced the main man, Brad Williams.

If you've seen any of Brad's previous works, Daddy Issues, Starfish, Fun Sized, you know you're in for a great night of real-life stories, jokes about living as a dwarf, the difficulties and successes that he has had.
"Tomorrow, when someone asks what you did Friday night, you can say 'Two black guys and a midget!' It's gonna be a great night!"
- Brad Williams.
Brad's comedy delved into everything from his dating life with bigger ladies, purchasing a king-size bed, sign language, living with a brain that is always making jokes, even when it is not the appropriate time, and how he and his wife had to adopt a SAFE word for when he's gone too far.
Brad went very personal, talking about the stress and inner turmoil that he had with the possible future of his daughter, and how he got through it, and urged everyone who is having a tough time to get help, talk to someone, and there's nothing wrong with it and how therapy is just another tool for us to use to get through life. It was a beautiful story, and I don't want to give too much away in case someone reads this before seeing his show.

All the comics were great and it was a hilarious night, but the real highlight of the evening for me was getting the opportunity to meet and chit-chat with all three comics. Quincy, J.B., and Brad were all super nice, down-to-earth, and generous. The line was long, and in certain areas it got warm, but it was worth it. There was no time frame, and the guys stayed there until everyone who wanted to meet them had gotten the chance. Something that is not too common nowadays.
Thank you, Brad, J.B., Quincy, and Legends, for an amazing night of laughs and memories.
