The name Patti Hammond might not ring a bell but, for Seahawks fans, she may be the biggest. Hammond has been a fixture in the stands since the Seahawks inception in 1976 and is better known as "Mama Blue". Here trademark blue and green wig and Elton John-esque glasses have made her unmistakable at both the Kingdome and now CenturyLink Field.
Recently it was revealed by some other Hawks superfans that a fundraiser has been established to help defray medical expenses. Their website, Fanz4Good.com (formerly known as "12s Helping 12s"), as well as their Facebook page, stated:
"Recently, Mama Blue (Patti Hammond) was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer recently. The good news is the doctors caught it early, so it is small and treatable. The bad news is she lives on a fixed income and her medical bills are quickly adding up. There will be many more medical and additional expenses to come. Fanz 4 Good has established the Mama Blue Fund which will help pay for some of her expenses as she battles this cancer. Please help us help Mama Blue by donating to the fund. Your donation is tax deductible and 100% of the money raised will go to help our Original 12 and #1 Seahawks Fan. Thank you for your generosity! Go Hawks!!!"

Mama Blue even got some love in a tweeted shoutout from Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll:

As of this writing (Aug. 31), they have nearly reached half of their $25,000 goal. Click on the button below if you would like to donate to the cause of a real-life Pro Football Hall of Fame fan (Hammond was, literally, inducted into Canton, OH back in 1999!)
