Seattle will once again embrace something that made the Emerald City a shining beacon of not only the Pacific Northwest, but of the world. That's sleek and beautiful technology, with the introduction of brand-new informational tourist center kiosks throughout the city.

But is this really a good thing and a wise way to spend government money? We'll discuss this new idea below.

Last week, Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell signed an ordinance so that the Downtown Seattle Association can try out a newer idea in Seattle's central business district.

The idea is 8 feet tall, 3 feet wide, informational touch screen kiosks that show maps, transportation notices, weather, important Seattle information, and show local art, but most likely will be used for advertising.

Will The New Interactive Kiosks In Seattle Be A Good Thing Or Something To Get Wrecked?

These have been around for several years, popping up in cities such as Baltimore, Atlanta, and New York, among others.

And while I love technology, and I do see all the potential these kiosks can bring, my dad's voice just keeps ringing in my head.

"This is why we can't have nice things!"
– Jeff (my dad).

I've driven through Seattle many, many times, and as much as I do love the city, I see less and less of the beauty that once was there, and more of the vandalism, graffiti, and trash.

Will these bring on a change, or will people take out their frustrations on it, causing damage and costing money? Only time will tell.
