Mad Props To Seattle For A Weird Reason
From the outside, Seattle is a beautiful beacon of tech innovation, kick butt sports teams, an amazing music scene, hope and beauty. If you live there, you may see beyond through the shine to the city's faults, but then again, anywhere you live, you're going to see the not so pretty parts. That's why when my friend told me this quote, my brain exploded (figuratively) with how true it is!
"You can spot a tourist in Seattle, by the fact they're carrying an umbrella!" - Cate M.
I didn't believe it, but the more and more I've walked around the busy streets, yeah, it's true! Even to the point that this became a topic on Reddit thanks to user Shaggy908 and his recent trip to a Chicago Christmas market that was very crowded.
"Umbrellas and crowds do not mix. Even walking down the street people forget they suddenly take up way more space. All so they could wear their fancy coats that have no water proofing, SMH."
- Shaggy908
He's not alone with his annoyance of umbrellas and the appreciation for the fact that citizens of Seattle, know how to properly deal with it (as of the writing the thread had over 800 up votes)! Although, user genesRus had a good point:
"Midwest and East Coast rains tend to be less frequent but "harder" than Seattle's drizzle. Downpours justify umbrellas." - genesRus
That user may have a point, but I agree with Shaggy908. Where do you stand on the umbrella topic? Love them or hate them? Will a good coat do the trick, or do you come inside like a wet dog? Tap the App and sound off!
