What’s Being Built at the Old Union Gap Restaurant Site?

When the last piece of pie was served and the doors to Shari's officially closed for the last time over 3 years ago on February 28th, 2023, many wondered what would take its place. Well, something is in the works, and something is being built.

What The Rumors Are Saying

For the past few years, rumors have been circulating about what would actually go in that location right between the freeway entrances and one of the main vehicle arteries for the valley.

Many had hoped for a return of the seafood scene like Sea Galley or Skippers, while others are talking about a Chick-Fil-A or Chili's, or even Cicis Pizza. Others suggested a new type of coffee bar or another Starbucks.

IHOP has been one of the longest rumors going around in the Yakima Valley, which would mark their return to that area of town.

On the Facebook Group, WTF Yakima, Kameron R. posted AI’s response about the property, stating it will be developed into a multi-tenant strip layout with a drive through option, but did note that nothing has been publicly announced.

What I was Able To Find Out

I took a trip and talked to Union Gap’s city hall and was informed that it’s expected to be a new family Dental Office.

Union Gap has been picking up more health services with Yakima Valley Urgent Care across the street, and then the MultiCare Emergency Room Hospital up the way on West Valley Mall Blvd.

But with the project still in the early stages, development could always change. We’ll keep an eye on it, and keep flossing just in case.
