Flamethrowers are epic! They can be very dangerous but also very cool! I have never met anyone who disputed those facts. Flamethrowers can be a great tool, a weapon, and a fantastic last resort against the upcoming alien apocalypse!

The late great comedian George Carlin pondered over the creation of the flame thrower.

"The very existence of flamethrowers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, 'You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."
– George Carlin

I'm curious to know if that is exactly how the creation went down, but who am I to argue with the genius of Mr. Carlin? Here's George's bit on the topic (NSFW):

How can you get a flamethrower? Can you just buy one, like is advertised in the film Spaceballs? Sort of.

The ones on the market are propane torches meant for cooking, yard control, starting small fires for camping, etc. Those work well but don't quite pack the epic-ness needed to stop a Xenomorph alien in its tracks!

You'll probably have to go the DIY route for that type of flamethrower. I'm not going to tell you how to do it; you have the internet (just please be safe for yourself and the area around you). But I will share this video that made my jaw drop!

Now we get into the meat of this article… the well-done, flame-cooked meat of this argument. Is it legal to own a flamethrower in Washington State? With more and more rules and regulations being put into place by the powers that be, owning your own flamethrower is one thing that they're not concerned about yet (yet).

As of the writing of this article, flamethrowers are legal in Washington State. In fact, it's legal to own almost everywhere in the United States. California requires a permit, and Maryland has a ban against owning one. But since a flamethrower is viewed more as a tool than a weapon (at least according to the National Firearms Act), there are very few restrictions in the United States regarding them.

Now you know, before you blow… out a flame. As much as I joke in this article, remember, they are NOT toys and can cause harm, property damage, and even death. Be safe and responsible.
