Christmas has come and gone and you've now got a fire hazard sitting in your living room. Lucky for you, the City of Yakima's Refuse Division is offering an option for disposing of your Christmas tree.

In a statement released to the press on Wednesday (December 30), Solid Waste Manager Loretta Zammarchi said that Yakima residents can set-up an appointment to have a garbage man come get your tree by calling 509-575-6005.

Tree disposal will cost you $10.00 for a tree up to 5 feet and $15.00 for trees taller than that. Trees over 5' need to be cut in half before pick-up. If you have more than one tree to throw out, you will need to call to schedule a special haul.

If you would like to dispose of your tree and help-out a local non-profit in the process, Camp Prime Time is also recycling trees and only asks for a simple donation to support their recreational facility that supports families that have children with terminal illnesses.

Christmas trees can be taken to Pape` Machinery (formerly Washington Tractor), 3110 Fruitvale Boulevard, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm through January 10th.

Visit Events – Camp Prime Time for more about Camp Prime Time’s Christmas tree recycling program. Those interested in volunteering their time to assist Camp Prime Time with the tree recycling program can call the non-profit’s office at 248-2854 or e-mail office@campprimetime.org
