Yakima Humane Society Is Over Capacity and Needs Your Help

A recent post on the Yakima Humane Society’s Facebook page had my jaw drop and my heart broken. It showed several kennels, some stacked on top of one another, with pups and dogs… future hopeful pets in each of them, with an opening plea: “WE ARE OVER CAPACITY!”

A Pet Can Change Your Life!

Ask most pet owners in Yakima, and they’ll agree: a pet can change your life! It can make you happier, most times healthier, and I can speak for my little pup, gets me up every morning!

I’ve written about my dog Rusty several times in the past, and I would not trade the world for him. Thinking about how much love and joy he brings to my life, it makes my heart sink when I see the pictures posted from Yakima Humane Society.

“Due to overwhelming intake numbers this week, our facility is OVER capacity, and we have puppies in our lobby because we simply have no more kennel space available. If you’ve been thinking about adopting, NOW is the Time; our shelter pets need you, and opening up even one kennel makes a difference.” – Yakima Humane Society Facebook Page.

If you are in a position to welcome a new family member into your life, or can even foster a pup for a while, it’d do a lot of good. If you can help out in other ways, like a donation (monetary or supplies) or just donating your time, anything and everything is greatly appreciated.
