Yakima Police have identified two officers injured after being run over by a stolen vehicle on Tuesday in east Yakima. They've been identified as Sgts. Mike Henne and Mark Grow. One of the officers had a broken leg while the other has a broken hip as a result of the incident. One of the officers has been released from the hospital however police haven't said which officer was released.
Meanwhile on Wednesday a 43-year-old man, identified as Salvador Munoz-Gonzalez arrested for running over the officers made an appearance in Yakima County Superior Court where bail was set at $250,000. He's facing charges of first-degree assault, eluding police and possession of a stolen vehicle. A passenger in the suspect vehicle was questioned and released.
Police were called to the store on Tuesday about a vehicle that had been stolen in a robbery in the lower valley earlier this week. The officers located the vehicle and tried to speak with the suspects but they quickly took off running over the officers. One of the officers fired a shot but no one was injured. The Yakima Valley Special Investigative Unit is now handling the investigation.
