I love me a good onion ring. The breading, onion thickness, ring size, cooking time, the ratio of onion to outer crunchy 'ring'. I think I found my perfect spot for a basket of rings, but what does the rest of the Yakima Valley think? We'll discuss who serves the best onion rings below.

Cooking Onion Rings Ain't Easy

If onion rings were easy to make, they'd be offered on menus everywhere. The fact that they aren't (looking at you, McDonald's) tells you something.

Did you know that the big ‘M’ actually tried to do their own version of an onion ring, but landed on what was described as an 'onion nugget'. It wasn't a hit, but for the places who do make them, who nails it?

My Personal Favs in the Onion Ring Business

The inspiration for this article came from my basket of rings (pictured below) from The Last Frontier Restaurant inside the Nob Hill Bowl and Casino. I ate one and was blown away! Other places where I’ve been wowed by the rings are Papa Baird’s in Terrace Heights, Red Horse Diner in Ellensburg, and (both) of the Major’s locations.
