2016 Was a Fun Year for 94.5 KATS and the Yakima Valley
2016 was a pretty good year for 94.5 KATS-FM. There were some downturns, but mostly it was quite a good year. It was full of adventure and some good fun.
My favorite thing -- and one of the most emotional -- was visiting the Vietnam Memorial at Sarg Hubbard Park. It makes me sad when I know what our military went through during the Vietnam War, but I am proud to call some of them my friends. It is always an honor to meet them.
On the other hand, Toys For Tots with the United States Marine Corps at Toys R' Us was a freaking blast. Shopping for the kids with the money that was donated was so much fun!
Chili Cook Off with local bikers at Owens Harley-Davidson was a sight to see. By the time I got through all of the chili to taste, I could barley stand!
Santa's workshop at Steve Hahn with the USMC was everything we hoped for and more!
Turkey Bowling at Grocery Outlet was a blast with Northwest Harvest! What can I say? We threw turkeys at bowling pins! Excellent!
Trunk Or Treat was a huge event at Steve Hahn's! I couldn't believe how many people came out! The kids had a blast. However, some of the parents were crazy. They grabbed more candy than the kids did! Naughty, naughty parents! HA!
One of my favorite things that I did was take a tour of a marijuana farm in Ellensburg! I am not much of a weed smoker at all. I have eaten it a few times, but every time I have actually smoked it in my life it makes me sick. However, the actual marijuana plant is really fascinating. You can image how excited I was to take a tour and see how they grow it legally. The main reason I was there, is because the guys at the Weed Farm nominated their office manager for National Professional Day and she won! Rachael was awesome to hang out with! Check out the video we did and the tour we took. It was incredible!
The distribution for the Toys For Tots drive brought thousands of people to State Fair Park! It was a really great day!
The Classic Car and Bike show was awesome -- as was the Yakima Valley Convention Center and the guy from Renegade Raceway. They also had a body building competition that same day! So much fun and there were some amazing rides there.
Fish Races at the Sportsman's Show at the Sundome was so much fun! The kids had a blast and so did the parents. Cannot wait for the Sportsman's show, 2017!
The Sportsman's Show brought a few things that I loved to do in 2016! The Predators Of The Heart was one of the coolest things that I did in 2016 and actually, ever! The guy was the wild animal whisperer! Amazing!
Captain America retweeted me! I love Twitter. It is my favorite social networking app, for sure. I got re-tweeted by Captain America when I decided to choose Ironman! What can I say! I love Robert Downey Jr.!
Yakima Valley Bike Nights was outstanding again! We had so much fun from start to finish! All of the prizes we gave away and the amazing bikers that came out, made it the perfect run!
Downtown Summer Nights was amazing the whole summer! I cannot wait for 2017 and what music it will bring!
Yakima Uncorked was such a sight to see. Great wine and music made it the perfect night. The Wine Divas brought the event to Yakima and I am glad they did!
Chris Cornell was at the Capitol Theatre and what an awesome show it was! He was perfect doing his show with amazing talent that was Audioslave or Soundgarden! I really enjoyed the show!
Roller derby, MMA and motorcycles! How can you go wrong! Red, White and Bruised was an excellent event with Yakima MMA and Wine Country Crushers!
Moxee Hop Fest was amazing especially with the Sea Gals! We had a blast!
Seattle Rock Orchestra at Seasons Performance Hall was one of my favorite shows in 2016! This orchestra was such an amazing show. They really brought down the house at the Seasons!
Central Washington Comic Con was really excellent for 2016 and I crossed some things off my bucket list that needed to be crossed off for some time. And not to mention the fact that a Comic Con was in Yakima! That is cool in itself!
Car Wash at Moulin Brew for Ten Deeds in Ten Days was awesome! We raised a lot of money and food, thanks to everyone who came and for Tree Top for donating a ton of Tree Top stuff!
Scaregrounds in Tri-Cities was one to remember! It spread throughout the whole fairgrounds! The Wineries Express bus we rode with our local winners was a great trip as well.
