5 Options to Get to Seattle After Yakima Drops to One Flight Daily
Starting September 7th, Yakima's airport will only offer one flight daily to Seattle at 2 p.m. which means many connecting flights won't happen until the next day. Along with that, Seattle is flying back to Yakima at Noon so that midnight flight back in will no longer be an option. So when it comes to flying out of Seattle you can either take that 2 p.m. flight or find an alternative to get to where you need to go. If you need some options, here are five ways to get to Seattle so you can take that connecting flight and be on your way.
Airporter Shuttle
This will probably be the most used option. I know people who currently use this as it is as it's a cost-efficient way to get to Seattle and back. It goes to Seattle and back about 4 times a day and roundtrip is about $100. Nice and easy.
Uber
Well, yes, Uber is an option, and if you find a driver in Yakima who's up for the job you may certainly do so. Unfortunately, taking an uber to Seattle costs more than flying to Seattle. From Yakima to Seattle, you're looking at a $350-$450 fee.
Fly Out of Pasco
It's a lot less convenient than flying out of Yakima, however, it's better than trying to drive to Seattle. Pasco does have a lot of great options when it comes to traveling. I will forever be jealous that Alaska Airlines travels from Pasco to Seattle 6 times a day. Not only that but you can also find more options with flying Delta or United that can fly straight to places like Salt Lake City, Minneapolis and Denver.
Get Your Friend to Take You
This is going to take a very good friend. However, maybe you can treat them to a fun day in Seattle and then ask them just drop you off at the airport. Unfortunately, that also means you'll need to find a ride back. Maybe find a Seattle friend and tell them you'll treat them to a fun day in Yakima? It's worth a shot.
Drive There Yourself
This isn't the most popular option for many reasons. Driving to Seattle is already going to be $100 in gas and parking at SeaTac is something like $40 a day. Depending on how long you're gone, it's cheaper to fly to Seattle than drive there yourself. Not to mention that after sitting on an airplane for however long you have to get in your car and sit for another 2.5 hours to drive home. No thanks.
I'm still hopeful that Yakima will provide a second flight option in the near future but in the meantime here are just a few options to get you to Seattle. I still wish we had a bullet train option. That'd be cool.
