75-Year-Old Woman Busted Selling Fake M-30 Drugs to Yakima Scenic Drive Resident

I couldn't begin to imagine how it must feel to know your father died as a result of buying street drugs. I would feel absolutely devastated and crushed. No doubt, that is how a young man in Yakima feels after he found his father dead in his home on Scenic Drive.

On the surface, one might look at this news story and think only about the deceased victim, but this story is a tale of two Yakima worlds colliding: that of the seller and the buyer.

WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT THE SELLER OF THE FAKE M-30 PILLS?

The woman who sold four (4) M-30 pills that ended up containing lethal traces of Fentanyl, is a Yakima senior citizen who lives in East Yakima. It sounds odd to hear of a drug dealer is a 75-year-old woman, doesn't it? I typically think of women that age as sweet, meek, and innocent--save telling a random child to "get off their lawn!" We have no idea of the personality demeanor of this drug-selling lady but we do know that she chose to engage in risky and dangerous behavior which led to her being arrested and released on a $25,000 bail. As of the time of this printing, the woman is not listed on the Yakima County Jail Roster.

WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT THE BUYER OF THE FAKE M-30 PILLS?

I will release neither the name of the lady who was arrested nor the name of the man who perished in this tragic occurrence out of respect for the privacy of both families. The reason this story speaks to me though is that if this were MY family, I absolutely would not want my family member's name being plastered all over the news; it's unbearable enough to deal with the aftermath of a situation like this.

We do publicly know that the victim lived on Scenic Drive in the West Valley area of Yakima and that he was someone's father. The man was apparently searching for oxycodone pills which are extremely addictive opioids.

HOW DID THE 75-YEAR-OLD YAKIMA WOMAN GET ARRESTED FOR SELLING DRUGS TO THE VICTIM?

According to reports from KIMA-TV news and other Yakima-area media, the Yakima female senior citizen returned a phone call from the deceased victim's cell phone after the Yakima Police reportedly accidentally dialed her phone number. The victim's son had shown the police the number and when trying to copy it, the number accidentally began to dial.

When the lady returned the phone call, she then showed up at the house on Scenic Drive with the intent to sell the illegal M-30 pills. She was immediately arrested by the Yakima Police Department and put in jail on a $25,000 bail on the following 2 charges:

She will be prosecuted in the Yakima County Superior Court on July 27th by the Yakima County Prosecutor's office. The name of her defense attorney has not been publically released.

WHY ARE RECENT HIT TELEVISION SHOWS ABOUT DRUG SELLERS SO POPULAR?

Several recent popular TV shows including Breaking Bad, Weeds, Ozark, Narcos, and The Sopranos are so popular because they show the human side of the dangerous drug-selling life. These TV shows are about everyday residents who turn to selling drugs for various reasons. These stories are about people that we wouldn't ordinarily suspect are pushing themselves to sell street-market drugs. While we Yakima County residents grieve and our hearts become broken for the families of those who die from accidental drug overdoses, we also grieve for the families of those who, for one reason or another, feel financially desperate and sometimes forced to take on the dangerous role of a street pharmacist.
