Bail has been set at $500,000 for a man arrested in Saturday's assault at the Yakima Fred Meyer store. 28-year-old Muhammad Tariq is facing charges of assault in connection with an attack on a 66-year-old woman in which police say he slashed her throat with a knife.  The woman was treated at a local hospital and released in good condition.
Police say he stole the knife from the store and tried to use it on another woman before he attacked the 66-year-old as she was standing in the produce section of the store.

Yakima County Prosecutor Joe Brusic says Tariq was arrested in mid-April for a felony violation of a protection order and felony eluding. While in jail he went through mental screening and was transferred to Yakima's Comprehensive Healthcare for a 3 month treatment. But last Thursday he walked out of the facility and was arrested Saturday in West Valley in connection with the assault.
Brusic says Tariq has been in and out of jail on violation of no contact orders since 2014.
The investigation continues Today.
