Yakima Mourns the Loss of a Beloved Candy Dish
Last week, we said goodbye to one of our oldest members of our Townsquare Media Family, as our news guy, Lance Tormey, retired. But we also have another staple to our offices at 4010 Summitview in Yakima. A fixture in our building that had brought so much joy to so many visitors every single time they walked through the doors and entered into our foyer. Our beloved candy dish is no more.
RIP Yakima Radio's Favorite Candy Dish
Reported by our receptionist that it had held its last piece of hard candy, our beloved Candy Dish, which we have lovingly named K-I-Treat, was beyond repair.
It had taken a tumble once, but was able to be mended and continue doing its job, 24/7, without a single complaint (unlike that one guy who just retired).
K-I-Treat had been with our establishment for over 26 years. That’s how long I’ve been here, and the dish was here before me.
No longer will it be able to hold Snickers and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups at Halloween. Mini Candy Canes at Christmas, Unwanted Candy Hearts in April, long after Valentine’s Day when no one really wanted to eat those chalk candies.
No longer will it be sitting on our foyer coffee table, ready to surprise listeners with snack packs of Gusher’s fruit candies or disappoint fans with Oat Brand fruit bars.

As of this writing, there are no plans to replace it, and a new intern has not been trained to take on the daunting, never-ending task that K-I-Treat has done so well over the years.
Much like Humpty Dumpty, we were not able to put the pieces back together... although we came close (just don't look at the other side)!
