K9 Foundation Yakima Valley Looking Forward to 2022

In February of this year a new non-profit was created to support Yakima County law enforcement agencies K9 programs. The founder of the K9 Foundation Yakima Valley, Fern Hart says it's been a hugely successful year and she's thankful for the many contributions people have made to support K9 officers in Yakima.

Private donations make up the bulk of money used to support local programs

Hart says she started the foundation after learning that unlike many other law enforcement agencies around the country, Yakima County depends upon private donations to fund local K9 programs. She says the foundation surpassed it's fundraising goal of $50,000 this year and she looks forward to even more success in 2022. Hart says it's been a big eye opener for her about how many people love dogs and support local law enforcement.

If you donate Hart says all the money stays in the Yakima Valley

If you donate all your money stays here in the Yakima Valley to support a lot of agencies which include the Yakima County Sheriff's and Yakima City Police Department's K9 Programs.
Five K9's are now working throughout Yakima County including Selah Police Dept., Union Gap Police Dept., Grandview Police Dept., Sunnyside Police Dept., and Yakama Nation Tribal Police Dept. Hart says the foundation plans to help purchase a new K9 officer for the Yakima County Sheriff's Office early next year after the retirement of Zuza at the Yakima County Sheriff's Office. She also hopes to purchase even more K-9 Officers so each agency would have 4 K9's available for 24/7 service.
If you give to the foundation your donations will go to food, medical bills, training tools, continued training, as well as the purchasing and training for new K9's for agencies in the Yakima Valley.
