NASCAR Legend Tony Stewart Was Just in Yakima and Nobody Knew It
As if we didn't already have enough smoke in the Yakima Valley this summer, we got a major dose couple of weeks ago and hardly anyone knew it.
Stock car racing legend and NASCAR Hall of Fame member Tony "Smoke" Stewart was in town a couple of weeks ago and flew under the radar like he used to do on the racetrack.
The purpose of his visit was to stop by one of his racing team's sponsors at Sage Fruit.
Was Tony Stewart really in Yakima?
Thanks to social media algorithms that don't always show you everything that you'd like to, I didn't see a Facebook posting by Sage Fruit's Rob Valicoff until days and days later. I started asking if anyone knew that Stewart was in town and it was all news to them. Even the newsman here at the radio station was oblivious.
That said, Stewart confirmed that he was, indeed, in the valley and, according to the tweet he sent out the day following his trip to the "Palm Springs of Washington", definitely enjoyed his pit stop.
