New Sculpture Unveiled In Moxee at Annual Hop Festival [VIDEO]
At approximately 7:20 p.m. Friday, a new $40,000 sculpture was unveiled in Moxee City Park as part of opening night festivities at the community's annual festival that celebrates one of the valley's biggest cash crops.
The work of art was commissioned by the city as well as the East Valley Community Enhancement Association and was completed by a local artist. The sculpture replicates an old-fashioned scale that was used to weigh sacks to determine how much money would be paid to the picker. Entitled "A Penny Per Pound," the massive replica scale features a shimmering cone in the center. The footings of the scale also function as benches for park-goers to sit on.
