The work of art was commissioned by the city as well as the East Valley Community Enhancement Association and was completed by a local artist. The sculpture replicates an old-fashioned scale that was used to weigh sacks to determine how much money would be paid to the picker. Entitled "A Penny Per Pound," the massive replica scale features a shimmering cone in the center. The footings of the scale also function as benches for park-goers to sit on.
