The American Red Cross has opened an emergency shelter for West Valley residents affected by the flooding at 72nd Avenue between Mead Avenue and Nob Hill Boulevard in Yakima. The shelter opened Tuesday afternoon at the Church of Christ, 100 N. 72nd Ave.
I stopped going to church years ago because frankly I just don't believe God is real. That said, on the off chance that I'm wrong, this beats the hell out of "Beer is proof that God is real and wants us to be happy."
What with today being Fat Tuesday, tomorrow is obviously Ash Wednesday -- the day Catholics around the world will be marked with a cross of black ash on their foreheads, to remain there the rest of the day.
