The Yakima City Council on Wednesday voted in favor of increasing residents' property taxes by 1 percent for fiscal year 2017.

The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to review a case over whether a Washington tribe's treaty rights should exempt a tribal member's cigarette business from paying state tobacco fees.

It’s Tax Day, which means you might not be in a very good mood right now. But cheer up, because even if you’re writing the IRS a check this year, chances are you don’t owe anywhere near as much as former Pantera / Down bassist Rex ‘Rocker’ Brown.

Tax time can be very frustrating when you realize you’re not going to get as big of a refund as you were expecting, or worse, you’re going to have to send the IRS a check. So it’s no wonder people might ask if their pet counts as a dependent (it doesn’t) or if they can write off that new suit jacket (probably not).
