A few days ago, we received a message from one Karina Espinoza asking if we could help spread the word about "Kozak the Wonder Dog".

It read, "Hello! I was wondering if it would be at all possible for you to mention my dog Kozak on your radio station? He's a local rescue from Yakima Humane and he is in a contest to be America's Favorite Pet. It's free to vote daily on Facebook and it would be great if we could get the word out to the community about this local hero. He is training to be a PTSD service dog and helps me rehabilitate, train and foster other dogs and small animals from local rescues. If we won we would use the money to pay for his recent knee surgeries. Please get back to me if we can make this happen. I'm a local trainer here in Yakima. Have a wonderful day. -Karina Espinoza"

Couldn't think of a better reason to help out, Karina!

Kozak, according to Espinoza, was rescued out in West Valley during the winter of 2018. He, along with his mama and litter mates were left abandoned during a storm. Espinoza adopted him from the Yakima Humane Society on February 1st in 2019. Kozak was, understandably, underweight and had a case of mange.

Kozak and his adoptive family now reside in Naches where he is Karina's assistant and, as of this writing, are currently in FIRST PLACE with just a few more days left to vote in Round #1! Voting ends at 8:00 p.m. (Pacific) on Thursday (Sept. 3) night. If he makes it to the finals on October 8th, 2020 it will coincide with his birthday!

Karina says, "He's an awesome dog!". Even us here at KATS have to agree!
