Blunt & To The Point, Yakima Target Store Has No Chill
Have you ever walked through a public place like a department store and felt unintentionally emotionally attacked?
No harm was done, and the company (I'm sure) didn't mean to target you; it just happened.
Whether it is a sly joke by someone higher up in the marketing or product design department or someone else who didn't put forethought or approve something so it was off their desk so they could move on to the next thing, the thing was put out, and we noticed it and didn't care for it too much.
Who knows why certain things are like that?
My first instance of this was many years ago, in October, while I was walking through a Yakima Walmart.
The Possibly Shameful Walmart Incident
Passing through the Halloween costumes, one caught my eye. It was a one-piece costume designed to look like three articles of clothing: blue pants, a white shirt, and a beautiful Hawaiian shirt.
The same exact thing I was wearing. My normal daily outfit at the time was jeans, a T-shirt, and a Hawaiian over-shirt.
Now, I'm a good sport, and I can laugh at myself and the fact that I'm overweight (still active and, for the most part, healthy, just overweight).
And when I saw the "Fat Tourist" Halloween costume hanging there in my exact wardrobe, I got a little upset... mainly because I don't get to travel. They could have just called it "The fat PNW dude in his early 30s," and it would have been more spot-on.
And to no one's surprise, it was more expensive than the actual clothes I was wearing.
How Target Shamefully Got Me
The other incident occurred recently at Target. I wasn't even looking for candy when I saw this sign.
They might as well have had a second sign that said, "It doesn't matter what you get, fathead; it's all the same thing to your A1C anyway."
So a pack of gummy worms and a photo for a tale to tell later, I left the store.
